Believe in yourself. Employ your subconscious mind to achieve your goals. Where do you want to go?
Below are some frequently asked questions about appointments:
Q. How long does an appointment last?
Hypnofix Appointments are 80 or 115 minutes long.
Counselling Appointments are 50 minutes long. This allows us to get to know you and your situation in more depth (usually a GP will only have 8-10 minutes, by comparison).
Q. What happens during a first appointment?
The first meeting is all about getting to know you, your situation and the things you are wanting help with. Your practitioner will listen to your concerns or hopes, and together you will discuss ways of meeting your goals. At the end of the session, you will agree an action plan. This could involve no further contact with us.
Q. Is everything confidential? Do you talk to my GP if I have health concerns?
As a private practice, everything is private. The only exception would be if we had a legal obligation to do so (for example, if you planned to assassinate a politician or do a major drug deal!). We want clients to feel that they can talk to us about anything that is important to them.
Q. Can I have a free first appointment?
Our rates are based on the time a professional psychologist/hypnotherapist/astrologer gives, and this includes professional and admin costs, but the first 15 minutes is free if you are coming in for counselling, in order that you feel you can establish a trusting relationship with the counsellor. We also charge for each session for ethical reasons - if the first appointment is free, a practitioner might be tempted to convince a client that more work was required, whereas one appointment might be all that is needed.
Q. Why are your rates lower than many of your competitors?
Our rates reflect the need for people to have the best chance of making the changes they need, so we offer reductions for fixed appointments. If you are covered b insurance you will be able to claim back the services. Our charges are about 40% less than the market rate, as we operate from a quiet apartment without office restrictions.
Q. How do I pay for sessions? Can I pay electronically?
We accept cash or cheque, as well as electronic payments of visa, payable during the session. Discounts are offered for advanced payment for programmes.
Q. What if this is an emergency? Do you offer emergency support?
We are not an emergency service. We have a page with links and contact details for emergency situations. Click here for more information.
Q. Your website is a bit confusing - are you a Therapy Centre or a Careers & Coaching provider?
Our approach is holistic, which means that we are happy to talk about well-being, mental health and careers. We believe that all areas of our life are important and so we can support people with many different needs. To find out more about our Therapy services, visit www.edinburghpsychologyservices.co.uk.
